Tiffany & Co. x Baskerville

Typography Challenge

Project Summary:

In this project, I was tasked with designing a type specimen in the form of a deck of playing cards—a challenge that allowed me to combine my passion for typography and brand storytelling. I chose Baskerville, a timeless typeface that complements the polished and luxurious identity of Tiffany & Co., a brand known for its refined visual identity. The concept was to create a visually cohesive deck that balances the rich histories of both the brand and the typeface.

I created a design system where each suit reflects a different facet of the Tiffany & Co. universe: hearts for brand history, diamonds for gemology, clubs for sports and non-jewelry designs, and spades for notable designers and their creations. This approach not only celebrates the brand’s legacy but also showcases the elegance and versatility of Baskerville in a sophisticated and playful format.

Project Takeaways:
This project became one of my favorites, but it didn’t start that way. I faced significant creative block at the outset, which challenged me to refine my process. I overcame it through thorough visual research, gaining a deep understanding of the Tiffany & Co. brand, and implementing a strict organization system for my content and Illustrator workspace.

This experience taught me the value of structured creativity and reinforced the importance of balancing creative exploration with disciplined project management.
